Contemporary Standard} Hi Frank, tell us your story.

Frank Kimero I’m an American illustrator, designer, writer and design educator. Some days I wake up and draw all day. Other days, I wake up and write. In either case, I’ve got a pencil in my hand, so it’s exactly the kind of life I want to live and what I’ve dreamt of doing since I was a kid. So, life’s good.

Contemporary Standard} Who’s the illustrator/graphic designer from the past which inspired you most?

Frank Kimero Alan Fletcher. His professional and personal work are an inspiration to me because of the spirit that they conveyed. It seemed like he had a well-lived life, and that’s what I want for myself.

Contemporary Standard} Which moment of the day makes you particularly creative?

Frank Kimero The alone time to work after lively conversation over a meal.

Contemporary Standard} What are you working on right now?

Frank Kimero I just finished two illustrations for Fast Company magazine. Now that I’m finished with that, it’s time to start on sketches for two more illustration jobs.
