Contemporary Standard} Hello Kenny, can you please introduce yourself and MOSCOT?

Kenny Moscot} Thank you so much for reaching out to me. We always welcome the opportunity to speak to our fans no matter where they hail from. My name is Kenny Moscot, fourth generation and President of MOSCOT Since 1915.

CS} Reading your story, it’s clear that MOSCOT is the result of 4 generations of expertise. How do you balance innovation and tradition?

KM} Tradition is never deviating from our timeless values and principles that have been passed on from generation to generation. Innovation is trying to stay one step ahead of our customers to give them the latest in eyewear while always staying true to the MOSCOT esthetic.

CS} MOSCOT Originals and MOSCOT Spirit are named after Moscot family and friends. How do you manage a corporate business as a family one?

KM} The fourth generation of MOSCOT is comprised of my brother, Dr. Harvey Moscot, and myself. We rely on the structure of the company to keep everyone honest and accountable.

CS} How important is the quality relative to the design?

KM} They’re mutually exclusive and equally important.

CS} You already dropped a collaboration with Common Projects. Something else’s cooking?

KM} We are always looking for interesting and intriguing opportunities to work with like-minded brands. We constantly get approached however it has to be something really special for MOSCOT to sign on. At present we have a lot in the pipeline so stay tuned.

CS} “What style does Johnny Depp wear?” is one of you website’s FAQ. Do people really ask this? Do you have any testimonial?

KM} Many celebrities and tastemakers wear MOSCOT and as a result sometimes it makes its way into media. Many people respond to this so we added it to our FAQ.

CS} Who would perfectly fit MOSCOT’s spirit and image.

KM} This is a hot topic for MOSCOT as we will be re-launching the Spirit collection come SS 2010 with a clear identity of who our audience is. I am very excited about this. The Spirit collection has the soul of the MOSCOT Originals but coming off as a bit more contemporary. They might incorporate colors or materials that are more of a reflection of what’s going on today.

CS} It seems that you give great attention to eye-care. Can you please spend a few words on MOSCOT MOBILEYES FOUNDATION?

KM} Both MOSCOT Eyecare and MOSCOT MOBILEYES are spearheaded by my brother, Dr. Harvey Moscot. He is at the forefront of eye care and is dedicated to giving back to the community. The mission of MOSCOT MOBILEYES is to preserve sight and improve lives by providing free quality medical eyecare and eyewear to New York City’s underserved populations.

CS} In you opinion…the best eye frame ever?

KM} That’s like asking who your favorite child is however considering the universal appeal of the Nebb, I’d have to admit it is a pretty darn cool frame.

CS} Please suggest us:
